Job summary

Flowers Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist Open Heart to support the operating room team. You will prepare instruments and maintain a sterile field, anticipate the surgeon's needs, and assist with patient positioning and procedure setup.

Responsibilities include instrument counts, equipment cleaning, and ensuring room readiness for cases, while complying with infection control standards and hospital policy.

Qualifications

• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist required.
• BLS - Basic Life Support required.
• 0–2 years operating room surgical technician experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room with instruments, equipment and supplies per procedure and physician preference.
• Maintains a sterile field throughout surgery using aseptic technique and Universal Precautions.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments efficiently during procedures.
• Handles instruments per policy, including inspection, cleaning and sterilization.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse for patient safety.
• Assists with patient positioning, draping and transfer under RN direction.
• Maintains physician preference cards and procedural documentation for accuracy.
• Restocks supplies, cleans and returns equipment, and preps rooms for next cases.
