Community Health Systems is seeking a Surgical Technologist – Open Heart to join their operating room team. The role collaborates with the surgical team to prepare and maintain a sterile field, anticipate needs, and ensure safe handling of instruments and supplies in the heart surgery setting.

Responsibilities include maintaining sterility, assisting with positioning, instrument counts, and ensuring efficient OR operations, with a focus on patient safety and adherence to infection control

Competenze

• Technical School graduate of Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program required or
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences required
• 0-2 years of operating room surgical technician experience required

Mansioni

• Prepares the operating room by ensuring instruments, equipment, and supplies are ready for the procedure.
• Maintains a sterile field throughout the procedure.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments efficiently.
• Handles instruments and equipment per policy, including cleaning and sterilization.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts with circulating nurse.
• Assists with patient positioning, draping, and transfer under RN direction.
• Supports maintenance of physician preference cards and procedural documentation.
• Restocks supplies and cleans and returns equipment between cases.
• Performs other duties and maintains regular attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
