Job summary

Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for the Open Heart Team. You will scrub for cardiovascular procedures, maintain a sterile field, and prepare instruments under RN supervision in a fast-paced OR.

Requirements include CST program or equivalent, 2 years scrub experience, CPR/BLS, and CST certification within 3 months. Strong teamwork and critical thinking are essential; rotating call is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or CST equivalent.
• Minimum two years of surgical scrub experience.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Must obtain CST certification within three months of employment.
• Ability to function in a high-acuity surgical environment with strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform scrub duties during assigned surgical procedures.
• Maintain sterile field throughout cases.
• Prepare instruments, equipment, and supplies for operations.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments accurately.
• Assist with gowning, gloving and setup; manage sterile supplies.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia providers.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and safety standards.
• Participate in ongoing education and professional growth.
