Beacon Health System is seeking a registered nurse for the Open Heart - OR at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, IN. This full-time, day-shift role requires 40 hours per week with 4x10s and call responsibilities.

The RN will provide professional nursing services, assess patient needs, and implement care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Two years of acute inpatient RN experience and an Indiana license are required; a BSN is preferred and may be required within five years of

Qualifications

• ASN required.
• Indiana RN license in good standing.
• Minimum 2 years RN experience in acute inpatient setting.
• BSN within five years of employment or will have the option to become certified in their area of specialty.

Responsibilities

• Perform the priority (high risk, high frequency) technical procedures safely, effectively, efficiently, and legally.
• Establish and/or revising priorities for patient care activities based on acuity, resources, and priorities.
• Respond to data indicating potential or actual risk to a patient’s health by initiating corrective action.
• Advocate for the patient or family to achieve appropriate outcomes.
• Maintain accountability for own and delegated actions based on standards, protocols and values.
• Seek supervision or assistance when unable to perform effectively or safely.
• Use resources to resolve problems that cannot be managed independently.
• Develop or revise a plan of care with measurable goals and outcomes.
• Initiate or maintain interventions to assure continuity of safe-effective care across the care continuum.
• Modify interventions as needed based on evaluation of effectiveness and patient satisfaction.
• Document assessments and outcomes within established guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with all team members to achieve outcomes.
• Delegate to staff based on acuity and role definitions, maintaining accountability.
• Maintain awareness of advances in clinical specialty.
• Contribute to clinical excellence, service, fiscal responsibility and workplace culture.
• Support development of co-workers through positive role modeling and feedback.

Education

Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN)

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - preferred

Indiana RN license
