Job summary

Linn-Benton Community College seeks an Instructional Designer to develop and promote high-quality open educational resources across Oregon. The role supports faculty, ensures accessibility, and aligns with statewide OER initiatives.

The position is remote with Oregon residency, funded through a grant ending Sept 30, 2029, and reports to LBCC while serving a statewide program administered by the state and federal partners.

Qualifications

• Requires master’s degree in instructional design or related field with experience.
• Familiarity with open education, open textbooks, open access, copyright, and IP.
• Experience working with faculty and students.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with faculty to develop engaging, openly licensed courses that address diverse learning styles and are accessible.
• Write promotional messages and contribute to repositories to showcase OER.
• Develop standards for OER across formats (textbooks, websites, videos).
• Organize professional development on best practices for instructional design and open educational practices.
• Create documentation and tutorials to support faculty learning.
• Prioritize accessibility in OER published through the statewide program.
• Model use of instructional technologies and open-source tools.
• Evaluate purchasing or creation of platforms, tools, and processes for OER growth.
• Report on increased usage and student savings from statewide OER efforts.
• Plan for sustainable statewide instructional design support.
• Other duties as assigned.
