University of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a full-time OP Nurse Coordinator I to join their team at Pediatric Surgery

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30-4:40. No nights, weekends or holidays!

Location: Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh

Position Specifics: 1 work-from-home day per week

Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate accountability for professional development to improve practice and patient care. Participate in shared governance, goal setting, and support change initiatives. Serve as a full partner on the care team, assisting team members and responding to needs. Participate in efforts to improve patient care and practice environment. Adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility. Provide oversight and supervision in the practice environment, assisting disciplines and directing activities as needed. Demonstrate leadership with new staff and support daily patient management.
  • Formulate patient care goals and plans involving the patient as a partner, considering individual needs holistically. Triage patient situations, coordinate care with physicians, and assist with assessment, evaluation, and education. Provide holistic care and manage outpatient follow-up. Act as the primary nursing resource for assigned patient caseloads and facilitate external services like homecare.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships internally and externally, demonstrating accountability, enthusiasm, and motivation. Respect cultural differences and promote healthy relationships. Maintain work-life balance, model safe work hours, and communicate safety hazards. Assist in patient care planning, operations, and innovations.
  • Participate in quality improvement efforts, identify opportunities, and work to improve patient satisfaction. Use research and evidence-based practice to enhance clinical care. Support regulatory reviews and quality audits. Advocate for patients within the practice.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with staff at all levels and with patients and families. Handle multiple priorities effectively. Use good clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Maintain physical stamina for frequent movement and patient handling.
  • Apply critical thinking to identify issues affecting patient care and communicate effectively. Document patient information comprehensively to facilitate communication. Incorporate professional and organizational goals to enhance safety, quality, and satisfaction.
  • Utilize adult learning principles to teach patients, families, students, and staff. Provide detailed education and serve as a liaison for developing care plans. Support staff development and educational activities. Foster an environment of open dialogue and continuous improvement.
