Job summary

Corpus Christi Housing is seeking an accomplished Vice President of Human Resources to lead HR and risk operations onsite in Corpus Christi, TX. This executive role focuses on people-first strategies, policy development, benefits planning, and compliance across state and federal laws.

You will partner with the CEO and Board, shape workforce programs, manage recruitment for exempt and non-exempt roles, and represent the organization in hearings and with external partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, public admin, or related field.
• 4+ years of HR administration experience.
• 8+ years in managerial roles.
• Certified Management Executive (CME) within 1 year of hire.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings/weekends.
• Strong technical HR expertise and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of risk management, finance, and business principles.
• Ability to communicate long-term plans and programs.
• Confidentiality and integrity in dealing with staff and residents.

Responsibilities

• Recommend HR and risk policies to COO, CEO, and Board of Commissioners.
• Oversee HR and Risk Management, including safety and public information.
• Stay current on HR law and program updates; meet with HR professionals.
• Develop, maintain HA policies in line with laws; communicate changes.
• Resource for grievances, wage surveys, benefits, unemployment hearings.
• Oversee recruitment and job descriptions; prepare HR reports.
• Recommend redesigns to health insurance and benefits for cost control.
• Monitor Workers’ Compensation; investigate incidents.
• Represent at Texas Workforce Commission unemployment hearings.
• Develop compliance for Performance Evaluation system.
• Ensure training needs are met; communicate in quarterly meetings.
• Direct interviewing, performance evaluations, discipline and training; documentation.
• Coordinate windstorm, general liability, and auto insurance programs.
• Act as primary contact with insurance carriers for claims.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
