Job summary

JobDiva, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Distribution Designer for an onsite, 12-month contract in Kansas City, MO. You will support licensed engineers with designs for 2.4kV to 34.5kV distribution projects, prepare BOMs, and perform voltage and pole loading calculations.

The role requires a CAD/Drafting degree with 3+ years of utility design experience, AutoCAD and GIS familiarity, and strong attention to detail. Collaboration with project teams and timely delivery are essential.

Qualifications

Must have a College Degree in CAD Design/Drafting or related technology field and min 3 years of experience supporting Design/Drafting for Electric Utility/T&D/OG or UG Distribution Design projects.
Must have experience with AutoCAD and familiarity with GIS and Distribution Systems.
Bachelor Degree in drafting technology or related field and 2 years related experience Required OR Associate Degree and 3 years related experience OR 4 years progressive detailing and design experience.
2+ years of experience, preferably in utility or power industry.

Responsibilities

The Assistant Distribution Designer will work under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer to assist project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on a variety of 2.4kV to 34.5kV overhead and underground utility distribution projects.
The Assistant Distribution Designer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting electrical distribution plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.
Assist in the design of distribution projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
Assist in the preparation and development of distribution voltage packages for both overhead and underground projects, including distribution equipment installation, feeder replacement, cable replacement, and new feeder design.
Prepare design sketches, cost estimates, bill of materials, and other required deliverables.
Perform various distribution calculations, including cable pulling, voltage drop, and pole loading calculations.
Apply basic knowledge of NESC standards and utility standards, guides, specifications, and procedures.
Assist with research and compiles project-related data as required by the project managers.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to meet project objectives and deadlines.
Work on multiple projects simultaneously, from initial assignment to completion.
