Job summary

Staff Distribution Designer in Kansas City, MO is a contract role focused on creating world-class distribution designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on 2.4kV to 34.5kV overhead and underground distribution systems. You will work with project teams through design and construction, adapting plans to budget, constraints, and client needs.

The position requires advanced design software skills (AutoCAD, MicroStation, Excel) and strong knowledge of distribution infrastructure, NESC

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in drafting technology or related field with 7 years of experience, or
Associate degree with 8 years of related experience, or
9 years of progressive detailing and design experience in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

Develop and prepare distribution voltage packages for overhead and underground projects.
Prepare design sketches, cost estimates, BOMs, and required deliverables.
Perform distribution calculations including cable pulling, voltage drop, and pole loading.
Apply knowledge of NESC standards, utility standards, guides, specs and procedures.
Research and compile project-related data for project managers.
Prepare and share project communications on vegetation management, ROW, and outages.
Develop client presentations, reports, and visualizations to show results and status.
