Job summary

E-Therapy is seeking a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our onsite team across Kane and Will Counties, IL for the 26/27 school year. The role requires IL PEL TVI licensure and expertise in braille, assistive tech, and IEP development.

Start date August 2026; full-time, 7 hours/day. Compensation starts at $45/hour and commensurate with experience. We support cross-licensure and licensing pathways.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education of the Visually Impaired or Special Education with focus on visual impairments.
• Current state licensure or certification as TVI.
• Proficiency in braille literacy and braille code.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments of students' functional vision and educational needs to develop IEPs and goals.
• Provide direct instruction in braille literacy, adaptive technology, and mobility.
• Collaborate with teachers and related staff to adapt curriculum for visual impairments.
• Teach compensatory skills to enhance independence in school activities.
• Utilize assistive technology and adaptive equipment to access curriculum.
• Provide training to staff and families on support strategies.
• Monitor progress and adjust instruction; maintain confidential records.
