TheraPeds Partners is seeking a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for the 2026–2027 school year in Gilberts, Illinois. This on-site, full-time role offers guaranteed hours, designated planning time, and support from TheraPeds and the school district.

You will provide direct and consultative TVI services, develop IEP goals, conduct functional vision assessments, and support ECC and assistive technology, collaborating with families and educators across the district.

Formación

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Special Education, Visual Impairments, Education, or a related field
• Active or eligible Illinois educator certification/endorsement for Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments
• Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, accessible materials, and the Expanded Core Curriculum
• Experience with students who are blind or visually impaired
• Knowledge of IEPs, evaluations, eligibility, and special education services
• School-based experience preferred
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Good organization and time-management skills
• Comfort with educational and assistive technology
• Ability to complete required background clearances

Responsabilidades

• Provide direct and consultative TVI services
• Develop and implement IEP goals and specialized instruction
• Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
• Support ECC and assistive technology
• Provide Braille and tactile learning instruction when appropriate
• Adapt instructional materials and recommend accommodations
• Monitor student progress and complete required documentation
• Participate in evaluations, IEPs, eligibility, and MDT meetings
• Collaborate with families, teachers, O&M specialists, therapists, and special education teams
• Consult with school staff regarding visual access, classroom modifications, and instructional strategies
• Support transition and independence skills based on individual student needs
