Job summary

RTX's Hurricane Mesa Test Facility seeks a hands‑on Test Engineer to support test setup, execution, and technical operations across onsite programs. You will contribute to sled‑performance calculations, data analysis, and high‑speed camera operation for rocket‑sled and aircraft escape system testing.

Ideal candidates have a STEM background with 5+ years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with 3+ years, and must be a U.S. citizen.

Qualifications

• Engineering, physics, or related technical background.
• Hands‑on experience with technical equipment or instrumentation.
• Experience with performing calculations and interpretation test data.
• Typically requires a STEM degree and minimum 5 years' experience, or an advanced degree with minimum 3 years.
• U.S. citizenship is required to access information under this program.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of an engineering team in developing, testing, and qualifying various aircraft escape systems and components.
• Set up and operate high‑speed cameras to capture test events, including fixed‑position and tracking applications.
• Support safe handling and setup of energetic propulsion devices such as HVAR rocket motors and small explosive initiators under guidance from senior staff.
• Collaborate with engineers on building, modifying, and preparing test fixtures and test articles based on program requirements.
• Perform data analysis on sled performance and complete predictive propulsion and braking calculations.
