Job summary

RTX's Hurricane Mesa Test Facility seeks a High‑Speed Camera Engineer to own the lifecycle of sled and fixed high‑speed cameras, ensuring reliable imagery for each test event. You will plan, setup, operate, and deliver footage while collaborating with test leads and customers on camera requirements.

You will work in field-test environments, manage calibration and upgrades, and support other test activities as needed, with expected on-site duties and occasional off-hours.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with hi-speed camera systems used in sled-track tests.
• Experience with Ametek Phantom cameras and PCC software.
• STEM degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 3+ years.
• U.S. citizenship required for access to program/contract information.
• Experience in aerospace/defense test environments and energetic materials.
• Ability to build custom camera mounts for moving subjects.
• Familiarity with other camera types (still, cinema) is a plus.
• Experience with aircraft escape system testing.

Responsibilities

• Own the lifecycle of high-speed camera systems from config to upgrades.
• Operate sled-mounted and fixed high-speed cameras during tests.
• Capture and deliver high-speed footage for post-test reviews.
• Collaborate with test engineers to integrate cameras into hardware.
• Contribute to camera capability improvements and hardware supports.
• Work safely around propulsion and energetic systems in outdoor tests.
• Support general test-site operations as needed.
