Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Telecommunications Design Engineer to support critical facilities and systems integration projects in Charleston, SC. This on-site role requires hands-on experience in structured cabling, BIM coordination, and multidisciplinary collaboration across Data, Wireless, AV, Security, Mechanical, and Electrical teams.

The engineer will develop design drawings in AutoCAD or REVIT, create BOMs, manage testing plans, and ensure compliance with NFPA and TIA standards

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering; 2+ years in telecom structured cabling.
Experience with inside/outside plant pathways and cabling systems.
Familiarity with TIA standards and NFPA codes.
Willingness to travel up to 10% and pass an extensive background check.

Responsibilities

Develop and track project requirements through design lifecycle.
Coordinate cabling topology, media, and device locations with stakeholders.
Prepare telecommunications space plans with Architecture, MEP, and Electronic Systems teams.
Produce detailed design drawings using AutoCAD and REVIT.
Create BOMs and data deliverables to meet project requirements.
Apply QC processes to ensure constructible designs and compliance.
Conduct site surveys and produce field reports.
Develop PITCO test procedures for installation readiness.
Ensure compliance with NFPA and TIA standards.
