Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Systems Administrator - Firewalls to support a US Navy IT Services Contract based in San Diego, CA. This full-time, 100% onsite role focuses on securing enterprise network infrastructure, cloud connectivity, and Zero Trust initiatives.

You will manage firewall policies, NGFWs, VPNs, and security monitoring using Splunk and Elastic, while ensuring compliance with STIGs, IAVMs, CTO directives, and DoD requirements.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional systems engineering/administration experience.
• IAT Level II Certification (Security+ or equivalent).
• Active Secret Clearance.
• Experience managing enterprise firewalls, IPS, and VPN technologies.
• Experience with STIGs, IAVMs, CTO requirements.
• Hands-on with Palo Alto NGFWs, Panorama, and Pan-OS.

Responsibilities

• Manage, configure, deploy, and audit perimeter security devices across on-prem and cloud.
• Design and maintain network segmentation using VLANs and security policies.
• Apply and maintain DoD cybersecurity requirements and STIGs.
• Configure NGFW technologies including Palo Alto Panorama and Pan-OS.
• Support log aggregation and monitoring using Splunk and Elastic.
• Collaborate with NIWC Pacific teams to ensure secure configurations.
• Lead Zero Trust migration efforts and define secure connectivity in AWS/Azure.
