Job summary

Information Systems Solutions (ISS) is seeking an Engineer, System III to support the NIWC PAC Information Technology Management Support Services contract. This role is 100% onsite in San Diego, requiring a Secret clearance and 7+ years in systems engineering, with hands-on firewall, VPN, and cloud networking experience.

You will lead deployment, tuning, and auditing of perimeter security devices, segment networks, and implement ZTNA migrations while coordinating with NIWC Pacific teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
• 7 years of professional systems engineering experience.
• Strong experience configuring enterprise firewalls, IPS, and VPNs in on-prem and cloud.
• Deep knowledge of network segmentation, VLANs, and firewall rules.
• Experience applying security directives with solid documentation.
• Hands-on with NGFW, Pan-OS, and Panorama management platform.
• Experience with log aggregation and analysis using Splunk and Elastic.
• Knowledge of cloud networking for AWS and Azure, with ZTNA experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage, configure, deploy, and audit perimeter security devices in on-prem and cloud.
• Segment networks, apply firewall rules, maintain documentation, and integrate NGFW security.
• Coordinate with NIWC Pacific teams to support log aggregation and analysis.
• Troubleshoot VPN connectivity and secure AWS/Azure connections.
• Lead migration to Zero Trust architecture and modern access methods.
