Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking an Engineer, System III to support secure enterprise IT and Navy operations. This on-site role in San Diego, CA involves designing, implementing, and securing enterprise networks and cloud connectivity with emphasis on Zero Trust initiatives and DoD cybersecurity standards.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in systems/cybersecurity engineering, hands-on NGFW and Palo Alto experience, PAN-OS proficiency, and an active Secret clearance with IAT Level III

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience in systems engineering, cybersecurity, network engineering, or related IT disciplines.
• Hands-on experience with Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFWs), Palo Alto Firewalls, Panorama, PAN-OS, IPsec VPN technologies, and enterprise security architectures.
• Strong network troubleshooting, packet analysis, firewall policy management, threat analysis, VLAN segmentation, and cloud connectivity experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Active Secret Security Clearance required.
• Must possess DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level III certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage, configure, deploy, and troubleshoot NGFWs, IPS platforms, VPN solutions, and perimeter security devices across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Administer Palo Alto firewalls, Panorama centralized management, and PAN-OS while implementing security policies and optimizing performance.
• Perform network segmentation, VLAN configuration, firewall rule implementation, and compliance activities per STIGs and cybersecurity directives.
• Analyze firewall traffic, threat logs, GlobalProtect logs, and network packet captures using Splunk, Elastic, and other log aggregation platforms.
• Support Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) initiatives, secure AWS and Azure connectivity, and migration from traditional remote access solutions.

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking an Engineer, System III to support a company focused on delivering secure enterprise IT, cybersecurity, and network infrastructure solutions for critical U.S. Navy operations. This position is on-site in San Diego, CA. The Engineer, System III will support the design, implementation, security, and optimization of enterprise network and cybersecurity environments across on-premises and cloud-based systems. This is an opportunity to play a key role in advancing Zero Trust initiatives and securing mission-critical Navy networks supporting national defense operations.

Responsibilities for the Engineer, System III include:

Salary Range: $175,000 - $190,000 depending on experience
