Job summary

Responsibilities include scheduling, pre-authorization, patient education, and ensuring accurate demographics, insurance, and consent. The shift is day hours, Monday to Friday, with no weekends or holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a medical assisting program or 2-4 years experience in a medical field.
• Proficiency in medical terminology preferred.
• General knowledge of computer software and practice management databases is essential.
• Knowledge of the Epic practice management programs preferred.
• Strong organization, time management and interpersonal skills are necessary.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule patients for surgical procedures.
• Work with department to troubleshoot procedural and operations issues.
• Prepare and forward admission reservations with demographics and insurance info.
• Coordinate cases and obtain hospital admission approvals.
• Discuss financial arrangements prior to surgery including pre-payments.
• Ensure informed consents are signed and provide pre/postoperative instruction.
• Schedule pre-screening exams and postoperative appointments.
