Job summary

AvalonBay Communities in Durham, NC is seeking a hands-on Superintendent I to lead early-stage multifamily projects and learn the full construction lifecycle from seasoned field leaders. This full-time role focuses on coordinating trades, monitoring quality and safety, and keeping schedules on track to deliver high-quality communities.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of construction experience, preferably in multifamily, commercial, or residential construction.
• Experience working on active construction sites and coordinating field activities.
• Knowledge of construction methods, building codes, and safety practices.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day execution of multifamily and mixed-use construction projects.
• Manage assigned scopes of work and coordinate subcontractor activities.
• Monitor quality, safety, productivity, and schedule performance on site.
• Partner with Superintendents and Project Managers to identify project risks and develop solutions.
• Assist with inspections, RFIs, daily logs, and project documentation.
• Help ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and to Vivmark’s quality standards.
