Job summary

Bluecrest Partners is seeking an Engineering Research & Development intern focused on operations and nuclear reactor engineering in El Segundo, CA. You will translate complex hardware and software designs into executable procedures for testing, commissioning, and operations.

Working with a multidisciplinary team, you’ll enhance operator interfaces, workflows, and tools while ensuring procedures meet regulatory standards for real-world execution. This role is 100% onsite at HQ in El Segundo.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS or MS in Mechanical, Nuclear, Aerospace or related field.
• Proficiency in managing or optimizing complex hardware and software processes for testing and operations.
• Ability to apply first principles thinking to solve problems in uncertain situations.
• This internship is based 100% onsite at the company’s HQ in El Segundo, CA.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine operational procedures that integrate both software and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Bridge engineering, operations, and human factors to create DOE or NRC compliant procedures.
• Collaborate with engineers to improve operator interfaces, procedural workflows, and software tools.
• Gain firsthand experience, ensuring procedures align with real-world execution.
• Support testing and iterative improvements of digital twin scenarios, operator systems, and human-machine interfaces.
• Ensure compliance with DOE and NRC standards, maintaining clear and usable procedural documentation.
