Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking construction professionals for on-site substation testing and commissioning. You will gain hands-on field experience in safety-focused environments, supporting multiple stages from installation to testing and documentation.

Preferred candidates have a design background, engineering degree, and strong problem-solving and communication skills. The role emphasizes learning safety procedures and contributing to project success.

Qualifications

• Some design experience preferred; Bachelor's of Engineering preferred.
• Division policies, startup guidelines, and project instructions manual knowledge is a plus.
• Strong communications, planning, multitasking and problem-solving abilities are expected.

Responsibilities

• Sets up equipment and performs calibration.
• Verifies device set points per design and checks SCADA alarms.
• Loads and tests settings in protection relays and RTU/RTAC.
• Performs functional testing and verifies equipment installation.
• Walks down substation sites to confirm erection completion.
• Identifies damaged devices and coordinates replacements.
• Prepares testing and commissioning documentation.
• Learns safety protocols and applies quality standards.
• Familiar with substation schematics and prints.
