Job summary

RTX’s Test Solutions Engineering team in the Hardware Discipline Center seeks a software-focused engineer to design, code, and integrate Windows-based software for mission-critical defense systems. You will interface with engineering hardware across the full lifecycle from lab demos to production testing.

The role emphasizes collaboration with multidisciplinary engineers, hands-on debugging, and development of robust tools ensuring test reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline. Degree must be obtained by start date.
• Experience developing, testing, or integrating software applications using one or more programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Python, or Visual Basic (VB/VBA/.NET).
• Experience developing, building, and debugging software applications targeting Windows operating systems using the Microsoft Visual Studio IDE.
• Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, and integrate object‑oriented software applications and test software targeting Windows operating platforms.
• Develop and derive system‑level software requirements, operational specifications, and architectural designs.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize software applications to ensure rigorous test accuracy, repeatability, and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with systems, electrical, and mechanical engineers to integrate software test tools with specialized hardware instrumentation.
• Participate actively in formal design reviews, code peer reviews, and technical defect resolution.
• Work within structured engineering frameworks applying both Agile and Waterfall development lifecycles.
