Job summary

Columbus Technologies and Services, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer (Onsite) in Pasadena, CA.

The role focuses on building and sustaining software for DSN embedded platforms and ground systems, spanning embedded Linux and server-side work. You will join the Control Systems and Electronics Group and collaborate across teams throughout the project lifecycle. The position requires a US citizen or Green Card holder, offers W2 with full benefits, and a 9/80 work schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; 5+ years for Level III / 9+ years for Level IV, or master's with 3+ years.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems with modern build systems.
• Proficiency in Java and databases.
• Strong Python and Bash scripting for tooling and troubleshooting.
• Experience with kernel configuration and cross-compilation for embedded architectures.
• Familiarity with Docker containerization in development/build environments.
• Experience with cybersecurity requirements in software systems.
• Familiarity with Git workflows and version control.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains DELOS embedded OS using Buildroot for DSN embedded systems.
• Designs and troubleshoots embedded software for DELOS-based systems in lab/operational environments.
• Delivers DELOS software packages within Buildroot ecosystem with CI/CD-compatible, containerized builds.
• Implements cybersecurity requirements in embedded software.
• Contributes to technical documentation and code/design reviews.
• Develops and maintains WebCMD service as part of Telemetry/Command software suite.
• Supports NASA flight project operations and problem resolution.
• Monitors production service availability and failover/recovery.
• Collaborates with DSN operations for requirements and updates.
