Job summary

MAAS Companies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join the Design and Construction Services team on a major university renovation and expansion project at California State University, Long Beach.

The role is on-site at the Long Beach campus, supporting preconstruction, construction, and closeout activities through document control, design review, and turnover. Responsibilities include managing plans, RFIs, change orders, and project files while coordinating with campus stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in the construction industry as a project engineer or similar role.
• Ability to read and understand construction plans.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam.
• Excellent communication skills and a professional manner.
• Availability to work on site at the Long Beach campus, in person only.

Responsibilities

• Design, technical, and administrative support through preconstruction, construction, and closeout.
• Project document control, including plans, meeting minutes, RFIs, submittals, change orders, ASIs, and schedules.
• Tracking and filing of documents through design development and permitting.
• Stakeholder review of design documents and tracking comments to address them.
• Independent review of change order requests for merit and fair pricing, and preparation of change orders.
• Closeout and turnover process.
• Project files for CSU system audit at project completion.
• Verification of site conditions and field support as needed.
• Project meetings, including scheduling, notes, and follow up.
