Job summary

Penguin Random House's Westminster Operations Center in Carroll County, Maryland, is seeking a driven Operations Analyst to join the Operations Services team. The role focuses on project management and data analysis to support a growing distribution network and automation initiatives.

You will collaborate across functions and sites, develop distribution models, conduct time studies, and help implement warehouse systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in industrial engineering, supply chain, or related technical field.
• 5–10 years of experience in industrial engineering, supply chain, distribution, manufacturing, or similarly complex operational environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced Excel skills with complex formulas.
• Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple projects, and adapt to changing conditions.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across functions and levels of the organization.
• Experience leading cross-functional projects and working with external vendors.
• Experience extracting, analyzing, and summarizing large data sets to communicate findings clearly.
• Experience implementing and supporting warehouse management systems, automation systems, or material handling equipment.

Responsibilities

• Analyze distribution operations data to identify efficiency improvements.
• Lead cross-functional projects across sites including automation and WMS implementations.
• Develop activity-based costing and labor models to guide decisions.
• Collaborate with teams across functions and levels, in person and virtually.
• Support facility design and expansion initiatives within the Westminster and network-wide.
