Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions seeks a Resident Solutions Architect to support a federal-focused data modernization program in McLean, VA. You will design, build, and operationalize large-scale data platforms and AI workloads, collaborating with customer teams and guiding modernization efforts.

Ideal for a senior data engineer/architect with expertise in Python/Scala, Spark, and cloud ecosystems, with DHS clearance and on-site presence required.

Qualifications

• Active DHS EOD clearance required.
• 6+ years of data engineering, data platforms, or analytics.
• Strong coding in Python or Scala.
• Deep experience with Apache Spark and distributed computing.
• Experience with two major cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and expertise in one.
• End-to-end data architectures design and deployment.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and production workflows.
• MLOps concepts and tooling knowledge.
• Experience delivering technical projects and managing timelines.
• Strong documentation and client-facing communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/IS/Engineering or equivalent.
• Ability to travel up to 30%.

Responsibilities

• Lead engagements focused on data engineering, analytics, and cloud architecture.
• Design scalable architectures, data pipelines, and distributed compute solutions.
• Guide modernization efforts and end-to-end deployment of big-data and AI workloads.
• Provide architectural consulting and best practices for platform adoption.
• Hands-on development using Python or Scala (Spark).
• Integrate cloud services across AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
• Provide escalated technical support and rapid resolution.
• Collaborate with PMs, architects, and engineers to meet requirements.
• Contribute to CI/CD workflows and MLOps practices.
• Document architectures and communicate complex concepts clearly.
