Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions seeks a Resident Solutions Architect for an on-site role in McLean, VA to support a federal-focused modernization program. You will design, build, and operationalize large-scale data platforms, distributed compute environments, and AI-driven applications while collaborating with customer teams.

The role requires 6+ years in data engineering/architecture, strong Python/Scala, Spark, and cloud experience, plus a DHS EOD clearance and 30% travel.

Qualifications

• Active DHS EOD clearance required.
• 6+ years in data engineering, data platforms, or analytics.
• Strong coding in Python or Scala.
• Deep experience with Apache Spark and distributed computing concepts.
• Working knowledge of two major cloud platforms with expertise in one.
• Experience designing end-to-end data architectures.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and production deployment workflows.
• Working knowledge of MLOps concepts and tooling.
• Experience delivering technical projects and managing scope.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 30%.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IS/Engineering or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead customer engagements in data engineering, analytics, and cloud architecture.
• Design scalable reference architectures and data pipelines.
• Guide modernization efforts and end-to-end deployment of big‑data and AI workloads.
• Provide architectural consulting and best practices for platform adoption.
• Hands‑on development using Python or Scala with Spark.
• Integrate cloud services across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Provide escalated technical support and rapid issue resolution.
• Collaborate with PMs, architects, and engineers to meet requirements.
• Contribute to CI/CD workflows and production deployment strategies.
• Document architectures and communicate technical concepts clearly.
• Maintain billable utilization targets while delivering exceptional service.
