Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions seeks a Database Architect / Software Developer to support a federal program focused on national bridge and tunnel inspection systems. This on-site role in Ashburn, VA offers a compressed work schedule and responsibilities spanning design, development, testing, and maintenance of software and database systems.

Required skills include ASP.NET MVC, VB.NET, Python, SQL Server, Oracle, and MS Access, with Crystal Reports and Power BI for reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience developing web and Windows applications for data-driven systems.
• Knowledge of NBIS/NTIS or federal inspection data systems is a plus.
• Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.
• Experience with data migration and performance tuning is ideal.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain web and Windows-based applications for bridge inspection data.
• Enhance and maintain the FLH Bridge Data Management System and FHWA intranet apps.
• Develop database apps aligned with NBIS and NTIS standards.
• Install, patch, tune, and maintain SQL Server, Oracle, and MS Access databases.
• Create and optimize SQL, triggers, and procedures for performance.
• Data migration, backup, recovery, monitoring, and capacity planning.
• Produce 508-compliant reports and maps using Crystal Reports, Power BI, GIS.
• Support software integration and ensure federal security compliance.
• Maintain schemas, data models, and coding standards.
• Travel up to 25% for field data collection and QA/QC.
