Job summary

Chugach Government Solutions is seeking a Safety Officer for an onsite role in Annapolis Junction, MD. The position focuses on implementing and maintaining a comprehensive environmental, safety, health, and risk program to ensure compliance with all regulations.

The incumbent will conduct inspections, safety training, and accident investigations, while supporting audits and daily operations. Overtime and a strong safety culture are expected for this role.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED required.
• At least 3 years of equivalent job-related experience.
• Relevant certifications in the field.
• Knowledge of EPA, MDE, OSHA, NFPA and IBC standards.
• Must be medically and physically able to wear a respirator.
• Able to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain clearance.
• Valid driver's license and ability to lift 50 lbs (75 lbs team lift).
• OSHA 501 trainer credentials after 5 years of safety experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety procedures are followed through inspections, training and evaluations.
• Conduct safety training for all organization levels.
• Assist management with root cause investigations and reporting.
• Coordinate safety audits and implement safety procedures.
• Perform air sampling and generate required reports.
• Identify and evaluate safety issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Oversight of hazardous and non-hazardous materials handling and disposal.
• Support Spill Response Team and operate required vehicles.
