Job summary

Chugach Government Solutions in Annapolis Junction, MD is seeking a Safety Officer to manage environmental safety, health and risk programs onsite.

You will perform inspections, train staff, conduct investigations, and ensure compliance with EPA, OSHA and NFPA standards.

This role requires a high school diploma, 3 years of experience, certifications, and ability to obtain clearance; on-site work with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 3 years of related experience.
• Knowledge of EPA, OSHA, NFPA, and IBC codes.
• Ability to obtain clearance and pass drug screen.
• Must be a U.S. citizen with valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Ensures compliance with safety procedures through inspections, training and evaluations.
• Conducts safety training for all levels of the organization.
• Assists frontline management in root cause investigations and reports.
• Coordinates safety audits and inspections and the audit processes.
• Develops site-specific safety procedures and new safety procedures.
• Performs air sampling and generates required reports.
• Conducts Job Hazard Analysis programs (JHA, AHA, etc.)
• Identifies and evaluates safety issues and recommends corrective actions.
• Monitors hazardous and non-hazardous materials handling.
• Supports spill response team and participates in emergencies.
• Operates company vehicles and equipment as needed.
• Complies with EPA, MDE, OSHA, NFPA, IBC regulations.
• Overtime possible; overtime/adjusted schedules.
