Job summary

Quanta Government Solutions in Rock Island, IL is seeking a Site Safety Health Officer to lead the project safety program on a major on-site construction effort. The SSHO will oversee hazard identification, inspections, and coordination with the project team and client safety personnel to maintain a safe work environment.

The role requires at least five years of construction safety experience, strong knowledge of JHAs and OSHA requirements, and relevant CSP/ASP/OHST/CHST certifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of construction safety experience on USACE-like projects.
• Candidate must meet one of the professional qualification pathways (CSP/ASP/OHST/CHST or equivalent).
• Degree in Occupational Safety or closely related discipline is preferred.
• Knowledge of JHA development, inspections, and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to interpret site safety requirements and safety documentation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safety program implementation on the project site.
• Develop, review, and sign Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
• Submit permits, plans, and safety documents for approvals.
• Perform daily safety inspections and coordinate with field team.
• Attend pre-job and progress meetings to provide safety input.
• Provide field coaching and safety education to workers.
• Stop work when unsafe conditions are identified.
