Job summary

Martin Marietta Materials, Inc. is seeking a Safety Lead to balance operational integrity with external relations on-site. You will be a visible on-site ambassador, ensuring every employee returns home safely while delivering world-class service to customers, vendors, and visitors.

Responsibilities include safety walks, incident investigations, PPE/first-aid oversight, and coordinating with dispatch and sales to optimize loading times. Strong communication and MSHA knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Safety knowledge and MSHA compliance demonstrated in past roles.
• ACI Level I certification is highly preferred.
• 1+ year in construction, heavy building material, or asphalt; 2+ years aggregate preferred.
• Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
• Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders on site.

Responsibilities

• Ensure site-wide adherence to MSHA and internal safety standards.
• Conduct daily high-visibility safety walks and inspections to identify hazards.
• Lead reporting and investigation of near-misses or incidents with root-cause analysis.
• Review truck washout areas for drainage, walking surface, and lighting.
• Facilitate safety orientations for new hires, contractors, and visitors.
• Oversee inspection and maintenance of PPE, fire systems, and first-aid supplies.
• Assist management in updating Safe Operating Procedures.
• Facilitate and organize in-house safety meetings.
• Serve as primary contact for customers and haulage contractors; resolve logistics issues professionally.
• Maximize delivery efficiencies through customer-focused coordination of site events.
• Gather customer feedback on site efficiency and safety for continuous improvement.
