Mind Robotics seeks an Onsite Engineering Manager to lead Forward Deployed and Software Engineers at a key customer site in Normal, IL. You will own the health of our data collection devices and the engineers who keep them running, transitioning to deployment support as needed.

You act as the senior technical voice onsite and translate field pain into a roadmap at HQ, while managing a small team and coordinating escalation paths. This hands-on role blends management with technical execution.

Formación

• 3+ years managing engineers, including hiring and coaching.
• Hands-on troubleshooting with embedded devices, SBCs, cameras, or similar hardware.
• Proficient with Linux system administration and Bash or Python scripts.
• Strong TCP/IP networking fundamentals and ability to distinguish client network issues from device issues.
• Customer-facing maturity to handle outages or slipped dates without harming relationships.
• Self-directed and capable of running a site away from HQ and keeping HQ informed.

Responsabilidades

• Lead and grow the onsite team of Forward Deployed Engineers and SW engineers — hiring, onboarding, 1:1s, performance, and coverage across the customer's operating hours.
• Own fleet reliability metrics: uptime, data capture, and time-to-resolution targets; run dashboards and reviews.
• Set the technical bar onsite for provisioning, diagnostics, and networking — standard runbooks and postmortems.
• Own the senior technical relationship with the customer: scope requests, communicate incidents and timelines.
• Run escalation path into HQ engineering — triage field needs vs product fixes and contribute to roadmap.
• Stay hands-on; review PRs with your team and be comfortable coding.
• Lead trialing and testing of images, bug fixes and features with offsite teams.
