Job summary

Sasser is seeking a Field Service Specialist to deliver onsite railcar repairs and maintenance with a focus on safety and quality. You will perform diagnostics, operate heavy equipment, and adhere to AAR rules while providing excellent customer service at customer facilities.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma (or GED), complete required courses, and demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills in a dynamic field setting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; training courses must be completed with 80% or higher.
  • Proven customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively in writing and speech.
  • Familiarity with basic technical troubleshooting and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Complete Field Service Apprentice functions and contribute to team goals.
  • Pass welding procedures (3/4" plate, all positions) and FCAW training as required.
  • Utilize knowledge of AAR codes and data field requirements in service work.
  • Perform diagnostics at customer locations based on defect symptoms.
  • Operate equipment such as forklift, crane, and hoist; wear PPE.
  • Support department objectives and adapt to company needs as they arise.
