Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM seeks a General Technologist to support the Vulnerability Capability Unit. The role spans WP&C, safety, security, facilities, and lab operations, with potential progression to taking on significant operational responsibilities.

You will work with classified hardware, prepare labs for experiments, and coordinate with IT and facilities teams. A DOE Q or DoD TS clearance is required to start, with SCI/polygraph considerations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED plus three or more years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience coordinating work of external support organizations (e.g. security, facilities, various lab supporting organizations).
• Experience administering security policy and requirements.
• Ability and willingness to learn new skills such as basic electronics, mechanical assembly and chemical/materials experiments.
• Ability to manage and track experimental hardware, including technical details such as state of health.
• Active DOE Q or DoD TS clearance is required to start, plus the ability to obtain and maintain a SCI which may include a polygraph examination.

Responsibilities

• Assist with work planning and controls, safety, security and facilities sustainment for the department.
• Oversee laboratory computers and video conferencing capabilities with IT for corporate compliance.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain a P-Card for purchasing test hardware and materials.
• Work with classified hardware and documents in secure environments; handle vault access and related procedures.
• Prepare labs for experiments and document hardware pedigree and post-test reports.
• Support hands-on activities in the labs under supervision, with growth toward ownership of operational aspects.
