Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking an on-site Project Engineer to support project management, scheduling, and cost control on large commercial builds. You will assist superintendents, interpret drawings, and manage field-admin activities to ensure project goals are met.

The role requires a 4-year degree in civil/structural engineering, architecture, or construction management, plus 2-4 years of experience and strong communication skills. A field, leadership, and BIM/VDC familiarity are valued.

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, or construction management.
• Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience on large commercial construction projects. Valid Driver’s License.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel-based templates, Prolog, Primavera and AutoDesk Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assist the project manager and superintendents with monthly owner pay applications.
• Identify and resolve interface conflicts between the company and trade partners.
• Interpret drawings, specifications, RFIs and questions for and from the architect/engineer.
• Develop and manage the cost control and labor recap with the PM and superintendent.
• Process and estimate all potential change orders and RFIs.
• Assist in development and management of the project schedule.
• Track and report on the progress of the project.
• Manage, train and mentor the office engineers and the jobsite administrator.
