Job summary

Hensel Phelps seeks an Area Superintendent to supervise a designated project area, ensuring safety, schedule, quality, and cost objectives while coordinating with trade partners and field teams.

The ideal candidate has a 4-year degree in civil/structural engineering, architecture, or construction management, 5–6 years of large commercial project experience, a valid driver’s license, and strong communication and planning skills. Experience with Primavera and AutoDesk is preferred.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in civil/structural engineering, architecture, or construction management
• 5–6 years’ experience on large commercial construction projects
• Valid Driver’s License
• Strong communication skills
• Experience with Primavera, Prolog and AutoDesk Suite; Excel-based templates
• Experience in construction layout, blueprint reading and shop drawing reading
• OSHA 10 certification preferred
• CPR & First Aid certification

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, supervise and mentor the company work force in their area
• Coordinate field construction work with trade partners through planning and collaboration
• Participate in weekly schedule/management meetings with trade partners
• Promote and enforce the site safety plan within their area
• Review safety plans (AHAs/STAs) and ensure quality control across their area
• Develop and maintain project schedules (four-week lookahead) and ensure timely turnover
• Manage material handling plans and coordinate with project/office engineers
• Assist BIM and VDC engineers to resolve submittal issues and maintain schedule
