Job summary

IonQ in Bothell, WA is seeking a Production Support Engineer to join our Manufacturing and Production Team. You will be on the floor daily, supporting technicians as they assemble, integrate, and test highly complex quantum hardware, serving as a first line of defense for blockers and process issues.

The ideal candidate has a Mechanical Engineering background, 2+ years in hardware production, and strong skills in GD&T, CAD, and cleanroom work.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
2+ years in hands-on production, manufacturing, or hardware development.
Ability to troubleshoot hardware issues on the fly in a high-tech manufacturing environment.
Ability to read complex drawings, CAD models, schematics, and GD&T.
Strong interpersonal skills to work with technicians and engineers.
Experience with high-precision assemblies, optomechanics, optics or UHV systems.
History of independently resolving hardware failures with minimal supervision.
Experience in cleanroom environments (Class 100–10,000).

Responsibilities

Support production floor as a critical engineering anchor on a cross-functional team.
Assist technicians in building, integrating, and testing complex quantum hardware.
Identify and address blockers, deviations, or process inefficiencies on the line.
