Job summary

Ascentec Engineering is seeking an NPN Manager to lead hands-on development of precision-machined prototypes, from concepts to manufacturing feasibility. You will guide a small team of manufacturing engineers and machinists, turning designs into build plans and solving complex machining challenges on the shop floor.

Hands-on experience machining semiconductor equipment components is strongly preferred. This onsite role requires leadership, DFM input, and a focus on evidence-based handoffs to the

Qualifications

• Hands-on precision CNC machining experience demonstrated by setup, programming, tooling, or prove-out work.
• Experience prototyping or low-volume parts when the manufacturing method was not yet established.
• Ability to read drawings, interpret tolerances and GD&T, and verify requirements with inspection teams.
• Experience leading machinists or engineers and setting priorities.
• Practical problem-solving with risk assessment and data-driven decisions.
• Ability to coordinate across engineering, manufacturing, quality and planning with clear decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead CNC process development: choose operation sequences, tooling, workholding and setup strategies; review CAM programs; support first‑part prove‑out; troubleshoot machining problems on the shop floor.
• Translate design intent into feasibility plans and identify critical features, tolerances, inspection methods, material needs and unresolved specs before a build.
• Plan focused trials with clear learning objectives and acceptance criteria; record process, inspect results, and actions for better next builds.
• Provide DFM and quoting input; explain trade-offs and make-vs-buy options.
• Manage workload, assign owners, coordinate machine time, materials, inspection and outside processes.
• Coach engineers and machinists through regular reviews; develop individual plans and capture tacit knowledge for the team.
