Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Front-End/BI Data Engineer to support the US Navy. This 100% onsite role is open to candidates in Norfolk, VA.

The engineer will turn transformed datasets into usable BI products, focusing on Power BI, reporting, visualization, and the data-consumption layer. The position requires 3–4 years in data engineering/BI, Active Secret clearance, IAT Level II, and strong Power BI experience.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years of hands‑on Data Engineering, BI, or BI reporting experience.
• Active Secret clearance.
• IAT Level II certification.
• Strong hands-on Power BI experience building reports and dashboards.
• Experience working with SQL databases and ETL/data pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and enterprise solutions.
• Translate requirements into visualizations and reporting products.
• Work with transformed enterprise datasets to develop reporting solutions.
• Partner with backend data engineers to ensure data is available and optimized for reporting.
• Understand underlying data pipelines, transformations, and repositories for reporting.
• Develop SQL queries and work with SQL databases to prepare data for reporting.
• Identify data quality issues impacting reporting accuracy.
• Work with data from legacy and enterprise systems feeding reporting.
• Support data ingestion and transformation with Azure Data Factory (ADF).
• Develop dashboards and reports that are accessible to technical and business stakeholders.
• Optimize Power BI reports, data models, and queries for enterprise use.
• Collaborate with data engineering on data requirements and reporting architecture.
• Document reporting solutions, data sources, relationships, and dependencies.
