Job summary

Samtec, Inc. is seeking a Software Implementation Specialist (Engineering/PLM) to partner with Engineering and IT to configure, document, and train users on configurable PLM and engineering workflow applications.

The role is onsite in New Albany, Indiana, with no relocation offered, and focuses on adoption, usability, and ongoing optimization. The candidate will translate business needs into system configurations, develop training materials, and support change management across engineering

Qualifications

• Experience with engineering systems, enterprise apps, or configurable platforms (PLM/ERP/MES).
• Ability to map engineering workflows without being the designer.
• Experience gathering requirements via interviews/workshops/observation.
• Translate between IT/Engineering and end users.
• Strong written and verbal communication; simplify complex concepts.
• Experience creating documentation, training materials, or work instructions.
• Highly organized with follow-through across multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Engineering to understand workflows, design intent, and outcomes.
• Interview engineers to extract requirements and configuration needs.
• Configure PLM and engineering systems to align with needs.
• Serve as user-facing owner for adoption and usability of applications.
• Translate technical concepts into clear configurations and docs.
• Develop user guides, standard work, and training materials.
• Support rollout planning, onboarding, and change management.
• Deliver training sessions, demos, and office-hours support for Engineering users.
• Act as feedback loop between Engineering and IT for enhancements.
• Define best practices for using PLM tools across functions.
• Monitor adoption and usage trends to identify improvement opportunities.
