Job summary

Prism Vision Group’s Millenium Eye Care in Freehold, NJ seeks an Ophthalmic Technician to perform tests, record histories, and assist physicians in exams. This on-site, non-exempt position requires 2–4 years of ophthalmic assistant experience and a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant credential.

Responsibilities include recording histories, performing diagnostic tests (OCT, visual fields, tonometry), scribing in EMR, and aiding with in-office procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED; Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline highly preferred.
• Certified Ophthalmic Assistant.
• 2–4 years of ophthalmic assistant experience.
• Ability to document and follow policies; patient services oriented.

Responsibilities

• Take ocular and systemic history; record visual acuity.
• Review patient chart; perform required testing per exam/history.
• Act as scribe; enter data into electronic medical records.
• Perform lensometry, refractometry, slit lamp exam including tonometry.
• Administer diagnostic tests – OCT, visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry.
• Perform manifest refraction; administer medications.
• Assist with in-office procedures; ensure consent and cleanup.
• Assist training of other ophthalmic assistants and patient education.
• Maintain clean, orderly exam rooms and comply with procedures and regs.
