Job summary

Ciena Government Solutions Inc. (CGSI) seeks a Network Solutions Engineer to design, coordinate, and execute test plans for seamless integration of Ciena products within a customer’s legacy network.

This onsite role is based at Fort Meade, MD, reporting to the Senior Manager and collaborating with the Project Manager and Sales Account Manager. The successful candidate will lead test development, provide SME guidance on standards, and support modernization efforts across Layer-0 to Layer-2

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Networking, or related field (equivalent experience considered).
• Ability to travel up to 25%.
• US Citizenship required.
• Active Secret Security Clearance (Top Secret preferred).
• Experience with Ciena products and network architectures (SONET, DWDM, ROADM).
• Familiarity with NMS tools such as MCP/Navigator.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to understand project requirements and design network architecture.
• Develop and execute test plans to validate equipment functionality, interoperability, security, and performance.
• Provide on-site engineering support during deployment and troubleshooting (Layer-0 to Layer-2; Layer-3 a plus).
• Lead pre-commissioning activities in labs based on BOM and documentation.
• Escalate and resolve issues following Ciena procedures.
• Prepare documentation for configuration, provisioning, and test results.
