Job summary

Ciena Government Solutions Inc. seeks a Network Solutions Engineer to lead design, testing, and deployment activities onsite at Fort Meade, MD. You will serve as the SME, coordinating with customer and internal teams to validate interoperability of Ciena products and guide modernization efforts.

Responsibilities include developing test plans, performing pre-commissioning in labs, and delivering documentation for configurations and results. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Active Secret security clearance; Top Secret preferred.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Experience with Ciena products and DWDM architectures.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers to understand project requirements and support network design.
• Develop and execute test plans to validate equipment functionality and interoperability.
• Translate test results into implementation plans and provide SME guidance during deployment (Layer 0–2; Layer 3 a plus).
• Perform pre-commissioning activities in labs or staging facilities and manage BOM alignment.
• Escalate and resolve issues following Ciena procedures; document configuration and test results.
