Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of a certified Medical Assistant program.
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Phlebotomy training; Phlebotomist license if required by practice.
• Minimum of one year of recent experience in a medical office/facility.
• Experience with medical practice specialties is preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant credential is required.

Responsibilities

• Follows patient care responsibilities including scheduling, patient flow, assisting during exams, collecting specimens, and relaying instructions to patients.
• Performs clerical duties such as charting, scheduling, and verifying insurance information.
• Maintains infection control and prepares exam/procedure rooms.
• Supports patient rights and safety, responds to emergencies as needed.
• Assists with clinical procedures, vital signs, and basic medical assisting tasks as permitted by state law.
