Job summary

Edison Smart is seeking a Controls Engineer for an on-site role in Miami. You will maintain, troubleshoot and upgrade existing automation systems in a highly automated facility, focusing on reliability and performance improvements.

This hands-on position involves close collaboration with engineers, technicians and vendors to keep equipment operating at peak efficiency. The ideal candidate has 1–5 years in industrial controls, strong AC/DC knowledge, and experience with Allen-Bradley Rockwell

Qualifications

• 1–5 years' experience in industrial controls, automation or related engineering discipline.
• Strong practical experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLCs, ideally ControlLogix or CompactLogix.
• Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment in an industrial environment.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Profinet or Modbus.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and diagnose PLC and automation system faults.
• Develop, modify and troubleshoot PLC programs and control logic.
• Work primarily with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLC systems.
• Support system health checks and identify areas for improvement.
• Assist with upgrades and modifications to existing automation infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot sensors, VFDs, control panels and electromechanical equipment.
• Support commissioning and startup of automation upgrades.
• Analyse recurring failures and identify root causes.
• Implement corrective and preventative actions to improve system reliability.
• Support integration between control, mechanical, electrical and IT systems.
