Job summary

Actalent seeks a Project Engineer II for MEP/Data Center construction, based out of Chicago, IL. This traveling role will support small to mid-size data center projects, starting in Kansas City and then Alabama, with on-site hours and full-time employment.

The position emphasizes procurement, coordination, and documentation, partnering with PMs and field teams to meet schedule and budget targets while delivering quality results.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in data center, mission-critical, or MEP-intensive projects.
• Professional experience as a Project Engineer with a focus on mission-critical, data center, or complex MEP projects.
• Proficiency in managing RFIs, submittals, insurance and contract administration, and document coordination.
• Strong technical skills and ability to learn new systems and tools.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Manage procurement, submittals, RFIs, ITBs, contracts, and change orders through Procore.
• Support project financials, including commitments, monthly reconciliations, pay applications, and cost tracking.
• Coordinate project setup, scheduling, permitting, meeting documentation, closeout activities, and punch list processes.
• Maintain project documentation, drawings, logs, and reporting to ensure accuracy and transparency.
• Facilitate communication between project stakeholders, trade partners, and internal teams.
• Provide mentorship to junior team members and assist with issue resolution and day-to-day project execution.
• Support multiple concurrent projects while ensuring quality, timely delivery, and adherence to construction best practices.
