Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Project Engineer II for MEP/data center construction, based in Kansas City, MO. The role coordinates procurement, submittals, and project documentation while supporting financials and stakeholder communications. It requires 2+ years in data center or MEP projects and a related degree.

The position is travel-intensive and fully onsite, with mentorship to junior staff. The role emphasizes high standards, on-time delivery, and adherence to best practices across multiple sites

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in data center, mission-critical, or MEP-intensive projects.
• Professional experience as a Project Engineer focusing on mission-critical, data center, or complex MEP projects.
• Proficiency in managing RFIs, submittals, insurance and contract administration, and document coordination.
• Strong technical skills and ability to learn new systems and tools.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Support project financials, including commitments, monthly reconciliations, pay applications, and cost tracking.

• Facilitate communication between project stakeholders, trade partners, and internal teams.
• Provide mentorship to junior team members and assist with issue resolution and day-to-day project execution.
• Support multiple concurrent projects while ensuring quality, timely delivery, and adherence to construction best practices.

Job Title: Project Engineer II- MEP/ Data Center Construction

Job Description

The Project Engineer II supports complex mission-critical and data center projects by coordinating project operations, financial tracking, procurement, and documentation. This role works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and trade partners to ensure projects stay on schedule, within budget, and aligned with client expectations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in preconstruction and estimating.

• Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Project Management, or a related field preferred.

• Demonstrates a strong customer service mindset with knowledge of customer service principles and best practices.

• High level of engagement and an empathetic, people-centered approach to teamwork and leadership.

• Willingness to relocate or travel to Kansas City, Missouri for the duration of the project (approximately 6 months).

Work Environment

This is a traveling role on small to mid-size data center projects. The first project will be in Kansas City, with subsequent projects in Alabama. Superintendent hours are from 6am-2pm M-F, and project team hours are 7/8am-3/4pm M-F, totaling approximately 40 hours per week. Full-time on-site presence is required, with a project trailer available on site in Redmond.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $115000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
