Job summary

UChicago Medicine Crown Point is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist to perform a wide range of clinical analyses in the Core Laboratory on site in Crown Point, IN. You will handle specimens, operate instruments, and report results to physicians and patients in accordance with laboratory policies.

The role requires CLIA high-complexity testing qualifications, a Bachelor's in clinical laboratory science, MLS certification eligibility, and proficiency with lab information systems and equipment.

Qualifications

• Must satisfy CLIA 88 qualification requirements for testing personnel performing high complexity testing.
• Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science from an accredited college or university.
• Certification or eligibility as Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through ASCP or equivalent.
• Knowledge and ability to use laboratory/hospitals information systems.

Responsibilities

• Receives specimens submitted to the laboratory.
• Performs pre-analytic and analytic steps including specimen preparation and instrument operation.
• Reports all test results in the laboratory information system within required turnaround times.
• Maintains equipment, safety, quality controls, and documentation per policy.
• Participates in training, education, and new testing/validation activities.
