Job summary

Simple Laboratories seeks a Part-time Med Lab Tech for our on-site downtown Chicago hospital location to perform tests in Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology/Serology, Clinical Microscopy and Microbiology.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Molecular Biology or Chemistry with MLS/MLT certification and at least 1 year in a clinical lab. Overnight schedule applies, with strong emphasis on accuracy and teamwork in a hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology or Chemistry.
• MLS/MLT license or certificate, ASCP/AMT.
• Minimum of one year clinical laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Process, analyze and report laboratory results with limited supervision.
• Understand quality control monitoring and use of computer applications.
• Follow policies and procedures for test systems outside acceptable performance ranges.
• Rotate through Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Immunology/Serology, and Microbiology.
• Operate lab equipment; record data and maintain equipment.
• Adhere to quality control policies and maintain documentation.

Job description

Simple Laboratories is searching for a Part-time Med Lab Tech for our on-site downtown Chicago hospital location to perform lab tests in Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology/Serology, Clinical Microscopy and Microbiology. The ideal candidate has worked within a hospital environment and can work both independently and collaboratively for optimization of results.

Schedule:

Overnight | 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM, Mondays, Thursdays, and alternating weekends.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Medical lab Technician /Technologist are responsible for accurately processing, analyzing and reporting laboratory results with limited supervision while maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.
• Must understand quality control monitoring, computer applications, troubleshooting when necessary.
• Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
• Perform a variety of routine and special laboratory procedures as authorized by the Manager or Director including rotation through at least three (3) areas of the Clinical Lab: Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Immunology/Serology, and Microbiology.
• Operate laboratory equipment and instruments; record data and maintain equipment.
• Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
• Use universal safety precautions to protect self and co-workers from bio-hazardous materials, including blood-borne pathogens.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Biology or Chemistry. MLS, MLT license / certificate, ASCP/AMT.
• Minimum of one (1) year clinical laboratory experience.
